High-performance twin-cylinder, case reed, two-stroke engine delivers the most horsepower ever available in a production, stand-up, JET SKI® watercraft.
Fully machined combustion chambers ensure consistent performance between cylinders
Piston rings include a keystone-type top and bottom ring. Both rings are treated with Q.B. (Quick Break-in) chrome plating—a variant of porous chrome plating—to retain oil for optimum lubrication and low friction.
Optional oversize pistons can take displacement out to a full 797cc for racing in the 800cc class.Large-diameter crankshaft uses large crankshaft/output shaft coupling bolts for high strength and reliability.
TwinMikuni BN40-38 carburetors follow racing tradition and provideexcellent throttle response and optimum power at all rpm levels.
Pre-mix lubrication (60:1) does not need an oil tank allowing space for a larger 17 litre fuel tank.
Large, motocross type, 8-petal, fibreglass, case reeds offer high air flow.
Waterproof,maintenance-free Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) system with digitaladvance ensures reliability and durability. Digital microcomputerprecisely controls ignition timing for peak performance.
Three stage, water-jacketed exhaust system and aluminum water muffler reduce underhood temperatures and suppress noise.
Large 56 mm exhaust passage from engine to tail pipe for less restriction when racing exhaust systems are fitted.
Turn-downexhaust outlet further reduces noise levels without any power loss. Theadditional noise reduction is especially appreciated by personson-shore when you are riding away from them.
Cooling water is force-fed from the jet pump through the engine.
Bypassoutlet on starboard side visually alerts operator that the coolingwater is circulating through the engine while an engine temperaturesensor in the exhaust system engages a 3600 rpm limiter if the enginebegins to overheat.
Propulsion
Efficient, direct drive to the jet pump contributes to the 800 SX-R's excellent top speed and acceleration.Axial flow, single stage jet pump delivers plenty of thrust for race or play.
Lightweight aluminum jet nozzle delivers superb steering response.
Drive shaft features a special anti-corrosion surface treatment and runs in a sealed bearing.
Water intake is via a special low-resistance stainless steel intake grate.
Matching the high engine output is a cast stainless steel impeller, which contributes to the faster acceleration and stronger thrust.
Cast stainless steel allows very thin yet strong impeller blades for high efficiency and low cavitation.
Shielded jet propulsion system is protected from damage.
Corrosion resistant plastic steering nozzle directs the offers well-controlled.
The jet pump drive-line features a large rubber damper to absorb shock loads from the powerful engine, and to reduce drive-line noise.
The jet pump nozzle incorporates the automatic bilge pumping system. Water is automaticallyemptied from the bilge whenever the craft is being ridden.
Hull
The 800 SX-R hull is longer and wider than any other Kawasaki stand-up Jet Ski. The increase in width makes for high stability when boarding and is one reason why the SX-R is so much easier to ride for beginners. The increase in length contributes to the excellent stability of this ski, both in straight line riding and in turns.
Hand-laminated, Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) hull design offers an ideal combination of high stability and high performance. This superior design delivers the agile handling characteristics that sports riders love.
Using FRP makes the hull as light as possible while retaining maximum strength, and utilizes tough, damage resistant material.
Turning performance is exceptional; it is not necessary to lean the ski over excessively to make the tight turns required by racing or high performance riding.
High handle pole pivot reduces the amount of forward/backward movement at the grips, for significantly reduced rider fatigue, particularly during long races or all day playing.
Handlepole spring lightens the effort required for less rider fatigue.
In addition to its aggressive styling, the deck features a large, wide floor area which makes the machine easier for new riders to master and which gives racers more room to move around.
Integrated flotation makes the craft virtually unsinkable.
Fully cushioned rider area with thick material provides maximum protection and comfort.
Final Drive
Efficient "through engine" propeller shaft is lubricated using the same oil shared with the engine and transmission. The all-in-one case saves weight and controls the exacting tolerances between components.
"Through engine" design allows for very short, light, rigid drive shafts for the front and rear final drives. Straight alignment of the drive shaft to the front final drive case delivers power through sealed splines with no U-joints required.
Compact final gear case design contributes to incredible ground clearance allowing the KVF650 to go where others fear to tread.
The rear final drive housing carries Kawasaki's renowned, internal, wet brake system. The brake operates in the final drive's oil bath completely sealing it from wear causing mud, dust, water, etc.
External brake lever return spring replaces the internal brake lever return spring to provide better and more consistent brake feel at the lever.
Dual Cardan joints to the rear drive absorb torque fluctuations and reduce vibration through the rear drive shaft.
Front and rear final drives use sturdy CV joints to feed power to the wheels.
Front outboard CV joints have an operating range of 50°.
Front CV joints can be independently disassembled, greatly easing outboard CV boot replacements.
Electrically "selectable" 2WD/4WD system allows fast, easy switching between two and four wheel drive to suit changing terrain and applications.
Rider controlled, variable front differential makes it much easier to get the ATV through difficult or slippery situations.
With the hand lever released, the system functions as a light limited slip differential providing excellent steering feel.
Pulling the lever increases the torque on the limited slip plates until the differential effectively locks. This fast acting, wide range of fine-tuning ability is a technological feature unseen in other industries, let alone on competitors' ATV's.
Lever operation puts the rider in control. The rider decides how strong the system functions. Also, there's no delay as in some electrically switched systems; the system engages and disengages immediately as the rider pulls or releases the lever.
Other Features
Wrist lanyard connected to the engine stop switch automatically stops the engine should the operator fall overboard.
Finger-type throttle reduces hand fatigue and increases rider control and comfort.
Choke knob and fuel petcock are within easy reach of operator.
MF-type battery reduces maintenance and is easy to install or remove.
Thumb screw hull drain plug eases after-use draining.
